Toyota has introduced the 2025 GR Corolla, featuring a new 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT) alongside the existing 6-speed manual option. The updated model also boasts increased engine torque, improved suspension for better cornering stability, and a redesigned front bumper for enhanced cooling and aerodynamics.
New Transmission and Performance Upgrades
The headline addition to the 2025 GR Corolla is the 8-speed GAZOO Racing DAT, which offers quick shifting performance and optimal gear selection. This new transmission option is designed to anticipate gear changes based on driver inputs, potentially allowing non-professional drivers to achieve faster lap times on the track.
All 2025 GR Corolla models now produce 295 lb.-ft. of torque, up from the previous 273 lb.-ft., enhancing the vehicle's dynamic performance. The suspension has been upgraded with rebound springs and improved rear components to suppress wheel lift and boost cornering stability.
The GR-FOUR All-Wheel-Drive system, inspired by rally racing, continues to offer Normal, Gravel, and Track modes for varied driving conditions. Standard Torsen Limited-Slip Differentials provide enhanced cornering performance and traction control.
Interior and Technology Enhancements
Inside, the 2025 GR Corolla features aesthetic updates with new trim finishes creating a sporty ambiance. A new 8-inch digital gauge cluster can be customized via the Toyota Multimedia system. The vehicle also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, along with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 features.
Model Variants and Pricing
Three grades will be available in Canada: GR Corolla Core (manual only), GR Corolla Premium (manual), and GR Corolla Premium DAT. The Core grade now includes additional torque, a heated steering wheel, and brake cooling ducts as standard. The Premium DAT model introduces the new automatic transmission with paddle shifters and advanced dynamic radar cruise control.
Pricing for the 2025 GR Corolla starts at $47,915 for the Core grade, with the Premium manual at $55,917 and the Premium DAT at $58,137. The new models are expected to arrive at Canadian Toyota dealerships this fall.
